Design Narrative

Concept
House of the Future 2025 is a forward-looking home that fuses Emirati heritage with advanced design strategies to create a self-sustaining, climate-responsive living environment. Inspired by traditional courtyard houses and majlis culture, the design reinterprets privacy, gathering, and inward-focused living for a contemporary context.

Strategy
Generative design tools and massing studies shaped the building form to optimise solar gain, natural ventilation, and thermal comfort. Passive downdraught evaporative cooling, rammed earth walls, and a rooftop solar array work together to reduce energy consumption and operational costs, while reclaimed greywater supports net-zero water potential.

Experience
Inside, a series of interconnected courtyards anchors the plan, blurring boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Daylight, cross-ventilation, and layered landscaping create a calm yet vibrant setting that balances privacy with openness — a contemporary expression of Emirati living traditions.
