The Shift Chaise is an exploration of the ampersand — a symbol of multiplicity, of coexistence. Seating & lounging. Sculptural & minimal. Comfortable & conscious. The chair’s dual-curve silhouette is not just a form; it’s an idea — one that adapts and shifts with the user’s need.

Precision-crafted to a 106° ergonomic angle, the chaise achieves a rare equilibrium between relaxation and upright support. It invites both pause and presence, in a single, fluid gesture.

Mode 1: The Sculptural Form

In its neutral posture, the Shift Chaise functions as a standalone object—more sculpture than seat. Its sinuous, double-curved form elicits intrigue and invites contemplation ambiguity and draws the eye across its flowing silhouette before it ever invites use. In this mode, it becomes a spatial statement: an object of visual rhythm, material innovation, and sculptural poise.

The Shift Chaise is a sculptural, multi-positional seating piece that explores the relationship between body, material, and space through a single continuous gesture. It moves fluidly between three distinct postures—each offering a different mode of engagement and emotional resonance

Mode 3: The Lounge Incline

Tilted further into its final expression, the Shift Chaise becomes a fully reclined lounger. Here, the 106° incline between seat and backrest supports the body in a posture ideal for rest, reflection, or solitary retreat. The curve invites the user to unwind—feet up, head back—without the form ever feeling passive or static. It is a moment of intentional relaxation shaped by continuous surfaces, lightweight construction, and mindful ergonomics.
